Skyway neighbors

We pray today for increased connection and “neighborliness” among Skyway residents. We ask for a willingness among neighbors to invest in conversation and get-together time with each other.  May Christians, especially, reach out to their neighbors, expressing interest in their lives and their needs.   We also ask that neighbors would be drawn to live lives of integrity and traditional values.

Skyway protection

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them.” –Psalm 34:7

Father God, we speak protection over Skyway homes and property. Alert neighbors of suspicious activity and thwart would-be thieves and vandals from following through with their intentions.  We pray there would be a decrease and elimination of break-ins and stolen mail, and we ask that Your peace would rest over this area.

Skyway/Bear Creek Park

“His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall.” –Ps 91:4

Creator God, we pray today for your protection for the Skyway/Bear Creek Park neighborhood that is preparing for another fire/flood season.  As residents and city firefighters train for the worst, we ask that mitigation efforts would be effective and that no dangerous fires or floods would come near them.  We pray for wisdom and unity for residents as they work together, and we thank you in advance for the preservation of this beautiful, natural area of our city.

Occupy the land

“The Lord said to me, ‘See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to occupy, that you may possess his land.’” Deuteronomy 2:31

Like the Israelites occupied the Promised Land, teach your people how to occupy the city. Show us how to wage a spiritual war, using the spiritual weapons of love, service, and prayer, to occupy and possess Colorado Springs for your Kingdom. May those who seek to harm people or tear down your Kingdom lose any power or influence they have. May those who love people and your Kingdom be granted places to manage, counsel, and/or lead the businesses, governments, and key institutions of our city.

Norwood neighborhood

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20

We pray today for the Norwood neighborhood with its interface of residential areas, schools, businesses and churches.  We ask for a sense of community that brings people together for the common good and service to one another.  We pray especially that Christians would be good ambassadors for Christ as they live, work and worship in the Norwood area.

Cottonwood Creek Park

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalms 150:6

We thank you, Father God, for the numerous parks and scenic recreation areas in our city.  Today we pray that the Cottonwood Creek Park, its recreation center, and its extended trail system situated in between busy Woodmen Rd. and Dublin Blvd. would continue to be an inviting and safe urban enclave.  May visitors be drawn closer to the Creator as they walk, bike or recreate in the Park and courteous of the residents that border the trail.

Woodmen Rd. Artery

“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen;
All day and all night they will never keep silent.
You who remind the Lord, take no rest for yourselves;
And give Him no rest until He establishes
And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Isaiah 62:6-7

Lord God, we pray for your oversight of the East-West corridor of Woodmen Rd., the main east-west artery for much of the city.  As it continues to expand, we pray for safety for those who travel it, fair zoning along it, and wise planning for future expansion.  We also ask you, Lord of Hosts, to guard the east and west gates of our city connected by this artery, keeping out those who would bring in harm and ushering in those who will bring good to our city. Place watchers as prayer warriors at these gates, maintaining a spiritual wall of protection for our city.
