Strengthen our city’s families…

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:18

As we make our “New Years Resolutions” this year, may they be filled with actions that strengthen the bonds of our families, mend broken relationships, and build one another up.  Empower those resolutions to bear fruit throughout the coming months.  We pray that the coming year will be a great year for families here in Colorado Springs.

Let our military leaders train and lead in righteousness…

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.”. Romans 13:1-4

Thank you for the military leaders here in our city. Give them great wisdom and a deep sense of righteousness and justice as they wield “the sword” on our behalf. May they train the members of the military to walk in righteousness and justice, avoiding the temptations to use their military might for selfish gain and instead using it to protect and to lift up the weak and the vulnerable. May they be instruments of rescue and liberty here in Colorado Springs and around the world.

Empower our city’s watchmen and women…

“I have made you a watchman…”  Ezekiel 3:17

Father God, we ask that you anoint the policemen and women of our City, for the protection of this City, particularly during this holiday weekend. Give them your wisdom, insight and innate ability to sense when something is out of order, needs to be investigated, and to discern a wrong that needs their attention to be righted. Let them notice anything out of place, draw their attention to items or people that they need to notice. Assign your angels to protect them as they are out on the streets, on duty. Be their rear guard, Lord. Bless and assist them in all of their efforts to keep our City safe.

Give our teachers and students rest…

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”  Luke 2:14

Heavenly Father, we lift up our city’s teachers and students and ask that they would have a joyful, restful, restorative vacation.  Give them good times with their families and prepare them to come back with renewed energies for teaching and learning in the new year.

Give wisdom to our business leaders…

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

Thank you, Father, that you are willing to give wisdom generously to all who ask.

We pray for our city’s business leaders, as they face a new year with increased costs such as unemployment and health insurance premiums.  We pray for new ideas, great products/services, humble hearts, a commitment to their employees, and lives of integrity.  We pray for the attitude that we are all in this together and together we will make it through.

Holy Spirit, train us…

“for we battle not against flesh & blood..” Ephesians 6:12

Our military is trained for every possible senario in battle. In the natural, we have a multitude of soldiers, weapons, and aircraft to defend our city, state, and nation. In the spirit, the church must prepare for the many battles we’ll be facing. Unity and training is necessary. Hone our spiritual skills, Lord. Give us “night goggles” to see where the enemy has infiltrated and a simple strategy to cut him off.  We’re all here for a purpose. These are exciting times to be living on planet earth. We embrace our place in the body and in your purposes in this world.  Muster us for service as we say, “Come Lord Jesus, Come.” Amen.

Merry Christmas!

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:13-14

May our hearts worship with the heavenly host and may our lives be filled with God’s favor.
