Military Personnel 1

City Transformation: Military personnel in our city

  • Pray for servicemen and women, especially those you know personally. Ask the Lord to give them strength and grace for their assignments, especially those serving in war zones overseas.

In the spirit of Memorial Day, let us remember not only those who have fallen, but all those who have served.  Most of the prayer points this week were borrowed from Give Him 15.

Memorial Day

Pray for those who mourn the loss of friends or family members who gave their lives in defense of our country.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.   –Isaiah 61:1-2

City Transformation: Coordination of Efforts

  • Pray for Holy Spirit empowered strategies and activities that will free and heal people from the conditions that often lead to long-term homelessness, and will give a hand up to people who find themselves in crisis situations and lose their homes.

We are praying this week for some of the most troubled and vulnerable people of our city. In April of each year, the winter shelters close up shop for the season, reducing the number of safe places for homeless people to sleep by over 200 beds.  At the same time, the population of homeless people in the Springs has increased over the last year. While the Springs Rescue Mission is working on expanding their capacity, over the summer there is an increased danger to people living on the streets, particularly women, because they cannot get indoors for the night.  One woman was recently pushed off of a bridge, then repeatedly raped for three days while she lay paralyzed from her injuries.

City Transformation: Coordination of Efforts

  • Thank God for the recently announced and ongoing coordination and cooperation between the major ministries to the homeless in our city.  Pray that the partnerships will bear much fruit in protecting our city’s most vulnerable.

City Transformation: Summer Housing

  • Pray for a short term and long term solution to the summer housing problem, since homeless people in our city are endangered by more than just cold weather
