City Transformation: Living the culture of the Kingdom

  • Pray for God to capture our hearts in our city and reveal how much we gain through the sacrifice of Jesus

Teri and Jack Brown shared a message at Saturday night’s meeting at the Tent challenging us to “Accept the Sacrifice.”  If we in Colorado Springs catch what God has given us through the sacrifice of Jesus we will

  1. Know that we are loved beyond our comprehension
  2. Stop performing to earn God’s love
  3. Stop measuring ourselves and others to determine if we are good enough to merit God’s love
  4. Know that we are no longer orphans, but are adopted into God’s family and co-heirs with Christ
  5. Become a city where we love one another and live out the Kingdom of Heaven that Jesus talked about

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”  –Ephesians 2:19-22

“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” –Romans 8:19

City Transformation: Pursuing our calling

  • Pray for the teachers, youth, and apostolic intercessors in our city to form a cohesive team and work together under God’s guidance and authority.

We have heard that, among other things, Colorado Springs is called to be a teaching city, a government city, and city that sends youth to build the Kingdom around the world.  These three aspects of our calling are interrelated.  We need people who are gifted, trained and called by God to teach the youth who are interested in being sent.  We need the energy and idealism of youth to help motivate and refine our teachers.   We need to learn better how to be the ecclesia, the spiritual governing body that establishes God’s Kingdom in our midst through prayer and that provides the spiritual authority and power for the youth to transform the cities to which they are sent.  This kind of spiritual governing is part of the work of an apostolic people.

“On this rock I will build my church (ecclesia), and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”  Matthew 16:18b

“How much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!” Romans 5:17b

City Transformation 10

City Transformation – How do we experience it?

  • Pray for God to call and empower people in this city to carry out His purposes for their lives.

A transformed city is made up of transformed people.  This week we are praying for God to awaken and transform individuals in our city.

“Jesus replied, ‘Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.’” –Matthew 11:4-6
