Lord God, as the El Paso County Fair continues this weekend in Calhan, we ask for a safe, fun and successful fair that celebrates the different aspects of life in our county.  Thank you for the farmers, the ranchers, the artisans, the homemakers and all those who are displaying their foods, livestock, crafts, and skills.

We pray for people who are choosing mates…

“A noble wife is the crown of her husband, but the wife who acts shamefully is like rottenness in his bones.” Proverbs 12:4 Note: this applies equally if you reverse the genders. đŸ™‚

Father, thank you that you designed us for sharing life with a marriage partner, enjoying intimacy, friendship and mutual support for a lifetime.

We pray for those who are dating or courting, those who are in love with someone and wonder if they are “the one”. Give them eyes to see clearly, ears to hear the good counsel of their friends and family, and a heart the responds to your guidance regardless of how they feel. If they are interested in the wrong person for them, may they see it clearly and move on.

Lord, expand ministry to our military…

“Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Gal.6:2

We share our lives with each other out of love. We catch the love Jesus had for us and pass it on. Those who love the military have settled in the Springs. Retired but still wanting to serve God and country, we reach out to You for a vision, an opportunity, a way of sharing Your love. Simply put, give us Your plan for You alone know our strengths and weaknesses…even if it’s just to say, “Thank you for your service” to a soldier in uniform. A sweet word lifts burdens.

We pray for the city council…

“First of all, then, I urge that requests, a prayers, intercessions, and thanks be offered on behalf of all people, even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Lord God, thank you for our new Colorado Springs City Council made up of Scott Hente, Jan Martin, Bernie Herpin, Merv Bennett, Angela Dougan, Val Snider, Lisa Czelatdko, Tim Leigh and Brandy Williams. Give them wisdom as they govern. Let their every decision be permeated with Your will, and based on Your desires for our City.

We pray for teacher assignments for the fall . . .

“For the Lord gives skillful and godly wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”  –Prov 2:6

Lord, we pray for the leaders in our region’s schools as they make final hiring and staffing decision for the new school year.   We ask for wisdom and discernment as they interview and appoint faculty; help them to see the true character of the candidates, that our students would be safe and well taught.  We also ask that they would make good decisions about the assignments for each  teacher, so that the teachers’ best abilities and talents would be tapped.

May everything we do glorify you Lord…

Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.  I Cor 10:31b

Thank you Father, that because you have reconciled us to yourself through the death of your Son, all of our lives can be sacred and filled with your presence.  Thank you for giving us your wisdom, speaking to us your guidance, and including us in your will on earth.

May the business people of Colorado Springs include you in their business plans, allowing you to direct their steps and to shape the way they do business.  Let them do business with worship in their hearts, the good of their customers and employees in their minds, and your ways in their actions.

May your presence fill our city…

Vision for the city“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17

We ask for Your Presence, oh God to rush into our City. Let Your glory fall, Holy Spirit, on our government buildings, on the businesses of this community, encompassing the infrastructure of our great City. Great, because You are here, ushering Colorado Springs into it’s destiny! Come Holy Spirit, let your Glory fall like a blanket onto every road, every home, every park, over the downtown area, over the Powers corridor, over the Westside of the City – the Broadmoor area. To the north and to the south – refresh our City! Pour fresh oil over us.
