Banning Lewis Ranch natural resources

“Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding” Proverbs 2:2

Creator God, we pray for the wise preservation, use and mining of natural resources in the Banning Lewis Ranch area.  Concerning the two reservoirs which serve both local water and recreational interests, we pray for good stewardship of the current resources and wise planning for future drilling for other natural resources.  We pray particularly for adequate information about possible contamination of water resources and that any legitimate concerns would be addressed before moving forward.

Banning Lewis Ranch

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

We pray today for the future development of Banning Lewis Ranch on the city’s east side.  As home developers plan and market in the Ranch, we ask that fair zoning and business integrity would undergird current and future residential development.  We also pray for wise leadership with insight about future local economic realities.

Cimmarron Hills residential

“He changes a wilderness into a pool of water
And a dry land into springs of water;
And there He makes the hungry to dwell,
So that they may establish an inhabited city.” Psalms 107:35-36

We pray today for more longevity of residence in Cimmaron Hills, which is significantly below state average in length of stay since moving in.  We ask that more renters and homeowners who are drawn to the neighborhood would stay longer and establish roots.  We also pray that a sense of community would grow among residents and that problems that encourage residents to move out would be addressed.

Cimmarron Hills

“How wonderful, how beautiful,
when brothers and sisters get along!” Psalms 133:1 The Message

We pray today for Cimmaron Hills neighborhood on the southeast side of the city north of the airport.  We ask that this census designated place (CDP), an unincorporated area, adjacent to our city would have a congenial and effective relationship with our city government and facilities which service or impact Cimmaron Hills. This sizeable population is an important part of our city life, and we pray for an extended sense of community between Cimmaron Hills and Colorado Springs proper.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Lord God, we pray today with gratitude for all those who have served in our armed forces and their families who have sacrificed along with them for the freedoms and privileges we enjoy in this nation.  We speak healing and prosperity of spirit, soul and body over all our wounded veterans in our region. May your presence replace the emotional and physical wounds with your redemption and peace.

Treasure in earthen vessels

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:7

Thank you Father for the treasure of your Presence and your Spirit that lives within us. May your name be glorified through us, even if we are weak, frail, or error-prone. May your power be at work when we pray, serve, give and love and may you display your signs and wonders, making it obvious that you are alive, active, and intervening in the lives of the people in our city.

Pikes Peak Park gun deaths and poverty

“The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.” –Psalms 121:7-8

Lord God, we pray for your presence and intervention in our city’s Pikes Peak Park (Census Tract 54.00), which led the state in gun deaths over the 12 years between the mass shootings at Columbine High and the Aurora theater.  We speak safety over the residents from firearms violence, and a lifting out of poverty of many of the 5,615 residents, including nearly 44% of the children.  We ask that you, Lord God, would thwart violent actions that would bring harm to innocent victims and that your presence would bring hope, healing and peace to this troubled area of city.
