City Infrastructure 4

City Transformation: Fixing our basic infrastructure

  • Pray for wisdom for the city leadership as they make plans for the future, so that we don’t fall so far behind on our city’s infrastructure again.

Since Mayor Suthers took office, the city leadership has put in place a budget to address our city’s infrastructure needs, including fixing our stormwater systems and our roads.  This week we are praying for God’s wisdom and assistance in getting the required projects done.

Homes for the homeless 5

City Transformation: No one homeless

  • Pray for God’s provision, inspiration, and empowerment to bring transformation to the lives of those who are homeless.

This week a man destroyed the windows of a downtown Colorado Springs store so that he would be arrested and he would have a warm place to stay that night.  Thank God that no one was injured.  This week we are praying for an end to homelessness in our city so that no one is driven to desperate acts just to stay warm.

Homes for the homeless 4

City Transformation: No one homeless

  • Pray for an adjustment in our attitudes towards the homeless, that we would work together as a city toward solutions and not just wish they would stay out of sight.

Homes for the homeless 3

City Transformation: No one homeless

  • Pray for new approaches that will provide shelter and homes in ways we don’t provide them today.  For example, organizations such as 100,000 Homes and the state of Utah provide a home first, then address the issues that led the individual to lose their home.  These approaches work: just 178 chronically homeless people remain in need of permanent housing in Utah — down from 1,932 in 2005.
