“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me- and I in him- bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.” John 15:5
Father God, as the days we are living in become more challenging, we cry out: We need more of You! As Mayor Bach determines what to do to raise our City Government to a higher level of functioning, we cry out: We need more of You! As the City Council members debate which way is the best direction for our City move in, we cry out: We need more of You! As businesses in the Springs struggle under this stressed economy, we cry out: We need more of You! As the churches of this community contemplate how they can contribute and reach out in a new way in this changing environment, we cry out: We need Your direction, oh Lord! Bring us fresh answers to the dilemmas Colorado Springs faces today.
“So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value.” –Phil 1:10
Father God, You are holy and of the greatest value. Nothing we can desire compares with the surpassing worth of knowing you.
We lift up all the students in our city from pre-school through graduate school level. Bless them with sound minds and willing hearts to be diligent in their studies and to develop the gifts and abilities that you have given uniquely to each of them. We pray that they will discern truth from falsehood and that they will desire to know You as the source of all Truth.
You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant. Duet 8:18
Thank you Father, that you give us power not to make wealth, but to get wealth. You do the work and strategizing, and we just receive it.
As your business people in Colorado Springs, I pray that we learn to pursue the One who is wealth Himself and who owns all things. May wealth not compete for your seat in our lives, but instead, let us seek you and your kingdom first. Let us conduct our business as you would, serving and loving people, so that you can release to us the wealth needed to provide for the needs around us and to expand your kingdom.
Thanks to Johnny Enlow for insights on this topic in his book The Seven Mountain Prophecy
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:20-21 NIV)
Lord, we agree with your prayer. May we, the Church, be one so that the world will believe that you love them. We refuse to allow selfish ambition and pride to dominate our hearts. We choose to rejoice with other churches in our city when they prosper and grow. Help us to maintain the spirit of unity in the bond of peace. We declare blessings over every church in our city.
Father, heal our divisions and strife. Baptize us with a sincere love for the brethren! Let it be said that our city knows that we are followers of Jesus because we have love for one another.
Father God, as the Colorado State Fair begins this weekend in Pueblo, we ask for your blessing on all involved in running the fair, participating in the events and visiting for enjoyment. We ask for safety and fun for all. Thank you for our state heritage that will be on display at the fair.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15
Thank you father, for the Wait No More initiative to find permanent homes for all adoptable kids. Thank you for the families that have adopted kids here in Colorado.
We pray that the rest of the adoptable kids in Colorado find permanent homes and that there becomes a surplus of families willing to adopt so that no child has to wait again. We also pray for the adoptive families, that you would give them the wisdom, patience, and love they need and that you would bring healing and wholeness to their adopted kids. Please provide all the resources those families need — physical, spiritual, emotional and financial.
“for we battle not against flesh and blood..” Ephesians 6:12
Our military is trained for every possible senario in battle. In the natural, we have a multitude of soldiers, weapons, and aircraft to defend our city, state, and nation. In the spirit, the church must prepare for the many battles we’ll be facing. Unity and training is necessary. Hone our spiritual skills, Lord. Give us “night goggles” to see where the enemy has infiltrated and a simple strategy to cut him off. We’re all here for a purpose. These are exciting times to be living on planet earth. We embrace our place in the body and in your purposes in this world. Muster us for service as we say, “Come Lord Jesus, Come.” Amen.
