“Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.” Lamentations 3:19
As the City Health Department has moved to Garden of the Gods Rd, more homeless are congregating in the Holland Park area. We pray for safety and needed services for the homeless here. We ask that local agencies would have the resources to provide assistance to the area homeless, and we also ask that Holland Park Christians would know how to minister to the special needs of the homeless near them.
“If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing well.” James 2:8
We pray that the businesses along Garden of the Gods Rd. will prosper by providing needed and quality products and services to their Holland Park neighborhood and beyond. Give wisdom and insight to the owners and operators for successfully and ethically running these businesses. We also ask for continued safety for residents and visitors as they negotiate the large volume of traffic that frequents this corridor.
“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27
Today, we pray for the single moms and their families in Holland Park. Father God, provide the resources of finances and time that single moms so often struggle to have enough of. We ask for supporting family, friends and community to surround these moms and their children. We especially ask that you would bring to the children without fathers in their lives trusting relationships with men of integrity who can mentor, support and encourage them.
“He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things.” Acts 17:25
Father God, we speak life over the Holland Park neighborhood. We pray for no more suicides in this neighborhood. We also pray that the women who visit Westside Planned Parenthood in this neighborhood would choose life for their unborn babies and not abortion. Bring around them family, friends and support services that will encourage them and provide whatever these mothers need to for full-term pregnancies, healthy births, and decisions about keeping their babies or placing them up for adoption.
“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.” Psalms 34:7
Father God, as we pray for the Holland Park neighborhood this week, we speak protection over the homes and property. Alert neighbors of suspicious activity and thwart would-be thieves and vandals from following through with their intentions. We pray there would be a decrease in criminal activity in Holland Park and along the Garden of the Gods corridor, and we ask that Your peace would rest over this area.
“I am the Lord, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You.” Isaiah 42:6
Lord God, we pray for safety for all the many visitors to Garden of the Gods park. We ask that all those who visit the park would continue to be protected from accident and assault. We pray particularly for the safety of the climbers who visit the park. Give them wisdom about the rock faces they choose to climb and awareness of the extent of their capabilities and their need to not climb alone.
“You will bring them and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, The place, O Lord, which You have made for Your dwelling, The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.” Exodus 15:17
Today, we turn to Cedar Heights’ neighbor, Garden of the Gods. We are grateful for this gift to the city, the largest city park in the nation. We speak a cleansing of the spiritual atmosphere in the park and ask for your spirit, Lord God, to inhabit it. We also ask that those who visit the park who are spiritually searching would find the one True God.
