Cyber Security Center 2

City Transformation: Protecting our nation

  • Pray that strong ties with the local education community would be established so that we can learn quickly and stay ahead of cyber attackers.

Last winter, the Colorado legislature allocated funds to build a national cyber security center here in Colorado Springs and this spring, the effort’s leadership selected a location along Nevada Ave near UCCS for the center.  The Denver Post noted that Colorado Springs was the first city connected to the network that became the Internet, so we have been and continue to be leaders in this field.  This week we are praying for this new venture.

  • Pray that the logistics of building the cyber security center in our city will go well so that it is built on schedule and within the budget.

City Transformation: Coordination of Efforts

  • Pray for Holy Spirit empowered strategies and activities that will free and heal people from the conditions that often lead to long-term homelessness, and will give a hand up to people who find themselves in crisis situations and lose their homes.

We are praying this week for some of the most troubled and vulnerable people of our city. In April of each year, the winter shelters close up shop for the season, reducing the number of safe places for homeless people to sleep by over 200 beds.  At the same time, the population of homeless people in the Springs has increased over the last year. While the Springs Rescue Mission is working on expanding their capacity, over the summer there is an increased danger to people living on the streets, particularly women, because they cannot get indoors for the night.  One woman was recently pushed off of a bridge, then repeatedly raped for three days while she lay paralyzed from her injuries.

City Transformation: Summer Housing

  • Pray for a short term and long term solution to the summer housing problem, since homeless people in our city are endangered by more than just cold weather

Finding Family and Friends

  • Pray that God would use the efforts of a funeral home in Montrose to find the family and friends of those whose remains are stored in their facility for his purposes, for healing, for reconciliation, and for bringing justice.

This week we are praying for various topics that have been in the local news lately.
