Lord God, we celebrate the history of our city and the contribution to our nation of humorist Will Rogers, who is memorialized at the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. (Built by Spencer Penrose between 1934 and 1937, it stands above the zoo at an elevation of 8,136 feet on the top deck and provides breathtaking views of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region.) However, we declare that your people in this city worship you as the one and only God. We invite your Spirit to inhabit this high place in our city that the name of Jesus would be worshiped above all others.
