Service to Seniors

City Transformation: Fruitfulness of our Volunteering and Giving

• Pray for transformation in the lives of our vulnerable senior citizens who are served by the volunteers and resources of organizations that provide for and minister to them. Also, pray for strength, sustained health and provision for our elderly.

Colorado Springs ranks 12th out of 366 U.S. cities for volunteerism and charitable giving (NerdWallet). (Boulder was 5th and Fort Collins was 7th.) The ranking was based on the culture of volunteerism, volunteers’ commitment, and monetary donations. According to NerdWallet’s calculations, 32.6% of Colorado Springs residents volunteer–averaging 50.2 hours of donated time a year–and people give 5% of their income to charitable groups.

This week we pray for transformation in the lives of those who are recipients of our vounteer service and monetary giving, so they no longer are in so much need and can join in serving and giving in our community.
