City Transformation: No one homeless
- Pray for new approaches that will provide shelter and homes in ways we don’t provide them today. For example, organizations such as 100,000 Homes and the state of Utah provide a home first, then address the issues that led the individual to lose their home. These approaches work: just 178 chronically homeless people remain in need of permanent housing in Utah — down from 1,932 in 2005.
This week a man destroyed the windows of a downtown Colorado Springs store so that he would be arrested and he would have a warm place to stay that night. Thank God that no one was injured. This week we are praying for an end to homelessness in our city so that no one is driven to desperate acts just to stay warm.
