Lord, we thank you today for the people you created to provide protection for our nation. We thank you for those who serve in harm’s way as our country is at war, and we ask your blessing and protection upon them.
Lord, we also ask that you work in them to bring balance in their lives. Give them ways to reconnect to their loved ones when they return. Build them into soldier-statesmen, strong leaders of their families, loving husbands and fathers. Help them model your love, as apparent when you move as God of the Angel Armies as it is when you sacrificed yourself on the cross.
Lift them up this day, and bring them home stronger and closer to you that when they left. May the gentleness of your Spirit become part of who they are, and be evidenced by the resting of your peace upon them.
